Homemade Protein Granola

Perfect recipe to use up all the holiday nuts!

Homemade protein granola is a nutritious and versatile breakfast option that you can easily prepare in advance. This wholesome snack is not only packed with protein but also customizable to fit various dietary preferences, making it a healthy choice for everyone.

Why Choose Homemade Protein Granola?

  • High in Protein: Many homemade recipes boast up to 22 grams of protein per serving, thanks to ingredients like protein powder, nuts, and seeds

  • Meal Prep Friendly: You can make a large batch ahead of time and store it in an airtight container for up to two weeks, ensuring you always have a healthy breakfast or snack ready to go

  • Low in Sugar: Unlike many store-bought options, homemade granola can be made with minimal added sugars, often using natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup

Health Benefits

  • Rich in Nutrients: Ingredients such as oats, nuts, and seeds provide essential vitamins and minerals, including omega fatty acids and fiber, which support overall health.

  • Versatile Usage: Enjoy your granola with yogurt, in smoothies, or simply as a crunchy snack. Its adaptability makes it perfect for any meal of the day

Homemade Protein Granola

Serving: 8 Prepping Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 160 grams old fashioned rolled oats

  • 75 grams of chopped nuts of choice or seeds

  • 60 grams vanilla protein powder - (I used vanilla whey protein powder.)

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • 1 egg white or 33 grams

  • 3 tablespoons pure honey

  • Optional mix ins: chocolate chips, dried fruit, coconut flakes

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

  2. Place all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.

  3. Spread granola onto a baking sheet with parchment paper in an even layer. This will allow it to cook evenly.

  4. Bake at 325 degrees F for 18-20 minutes. Gently flip the granola halfway through. Be careful not to break the clumps or you won't end up with any granola clusters. The granola should be a deep golden brown color from the caramelized honey.

  5. Allow the granola to fully cool before enjoying. It will crisp up as it cools.
